The Port Credit Dental Staff is committed to maintaining the utmost care for our patients and we believe in treating all of our patients the way we would want to be treated ourselves. Our staff comprises of certified hygienists, assistants, and managerial staff. Our hygiene team has played an active role from the very beginning and continues to provide excellent care for our patients. They play an active role in educating patients about oral hygiene, utilizing tools including our intraoral cameras and educational programs.

Dr. Sandra Kmet

Dr. Sandra Kmet received her Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto. She completed her Doctor of Medical Dentistry from Tufts Dental School in Boston where she was recognized for her excellent achievement. During dental school, she was certified as a dental hygienist and worked part-time in adult and pediatric dental practices in Boston. She is licensed with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and is a member of the Ontario Dental Association. Dr. Kmet actively participates in community events, including educating young children at a local public school in the Port Credit area about the importance of dental care. She has attended many courses pertaining to cosmetic and implant dentistry and she was a member of the Toronto Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Although also certified in the Northeast, USA, Dr. Kmet joined her sister, Dr. Patricia Kmet, in private practice in Toronto.
Dr. Sandra Kmet’s wide range of interests include tennis, music, travel and fitness.

Dr. Johanna Schaeffer

Dr. Johanna Schaeffer attended the University of Toronto for her undergraduate studies, earning an Honours Bachelor of Science in Toxicology. She is a graduate of the dental school at the University of Western Ontario, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During dental school, Dr. Schaeffer earned academic awards and was class president as well as president of the dental student society. She is most proud of having been a member of MedOutreach, a group of dental, medical, and nursing students from Western that provide health care to those in need in East Africa, specifically northern Tanzania.
Upon graduating in 2002, Dr. Schaeffer was accepted into a highly competitive dental residency at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, through the University of Toronto, where she refined her skills in oral surgery, sedation techniques, and the proper management of medically compromised patients. After working in private practices in London and Toronto, Dr. Schaeffer currently splits her time between her dental practice in Carlisle (which she shares with her husband, also a dentist), and Port Credit Dental, where she has been practicing since 2007.
Dr. Schaeffer is a member of the Toronto Crown and Bridge Study Club and attends continuing education courses in various disciplines, including Invisalign®, orthodontics, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implants, and TMJ health. Dr. Schaeffer has completed several courses in cosmetic dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and was a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto’s Department of Preventive Dentistry and the University of Western Ontario Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology. She holds memberships with the Ontario Dental Association, the Halton-Peel Dental Association, the Canadian Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
When she’s not working, Dr. Schaeffer is busy enjoying life with her family and friends, who mean everything to her. She enjoys reading, hiking, any water sport, and meeting new people and experiencing new places. She and her husband are passionate about supporting music education in schools and are proud to sponsor music awards and scholarships at the elementary and high school level.

Dr. Elly Tehrani
H. B.Sc., D.M.D., Cert. Perio, M.S.D., F.R.C.D.(C)
Dr. Elly Tehrani graduated with Honours in Science from the University of Toronto. She completed the undergraduate degree by completing a Double Specialist program in Pharmacology and Toxicology and a Major program in Human Biology. She then went on to pursue her formal education in Dentistry from the Case School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Tehrani received her DMD in 2003 and her combined Diploma in Periodontics and Master of Science (MSD) in 2006. She was awarded Diplomate status by the American Board of Periodontology and successfully completed the National Dental Specialty Examination of Canada which granted her Fellowship status with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. Patricia Kmet graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston in 1997. She is licensed with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and certified in the NorthEast, USA. She is a member of the ODA, HPDA, and CDA and is actively involved in pursuing continuing education in cosmetic and implant dentistry.
While in dental school, Dr. Kmet was awarded the Tufts Merit Scholarship for academic excellence. She was also certified as a dental hygienist in Massachusetts and worked part-time in adult and pediatric dental clinics while in school. She gained valuable experience while in a residency program at the U.S. Coast Guard Dental Clinic in Miami, Florida.
Upon returning to her native Toronto, she worked as an associate dentist in North York until purchasing a practice in Port Credit Mississauga in April 2000. Dr. Patricia Kmet envisions Port Credit Dental as a welcoming family-friendly office where patients and their comfort and care come first. She wants patients to feel at home and not rushed while visiting.
Her leisure activities include outdoor pursuits like hiking, sailing, and all water sports. She and her husband are avid travelers and bring their son on many of their adventures. She also enjoys fitness like yoga, pilates, as well as the arts, theatre, and music.
